Very positive signals for the furniture industry are coming from SICAM, which once again proves to be an international benchmark event
A 2016 edition of SICAM ended in Pordenone on October 21 following four days of intense work for operators from 102 countries – an absolute record for the fair – crowding the halls and building a business atmosphere full of strategic planning in all stands. The visitors represented over 7,000 companies, of which 64% were Italian and 36% belonged to rest of the world. Evidently the internationality of the trade fair has grown, and the show is a true ‘ambassador of Made in Italy’. Besides, SICAM is becoming a top event in the global exhibition calendar for the sectors of components and accessories for furniture.
This year SICAM registered an increase in the presence of designers and architects. The 560 exhibiting companies showed a very large range of products, which can be considered as the preview of a great season for new furniture in 2017. Attractiveness and value of the event have both been reconfirmed by the large number of applications for space in 2017 collected during the show.
According to the organisers, SICAM 2016 demonstrated how important it is for the accessories and components industry to consider each year as a new opening of opportunities and markets. “This year the visits from several countries of continental Sub-Saharan Africa and also Middle East have been registered, countries representing new frontiers for the next decades. Germany confirmed itself as a target market once again, ranked first among the foreign visiting countries. France and Great Britain are again at the top for the Italian exports in the furniture sector, even as buyers from Russia have been visiting the fair regularly in the most recent editions. Also, buyers and industry professionals from other emerging markets were again in Pordenone to study the market and make new contacts.”
The next edition of SICAM will be held in Pordenone during October 10-13, 2017.
