Mumbai-based Kainya & Associates is looking to expand its distribution network. At present the company has a network of over 1,200 dealers and six distributors. The firm, that has been in operation for the last 36 years, is supplier of Kainya brand architectural hardware, builders’ hardware, bathroom accessories and modular furniture fittings.

“We have a sizeable dealer base and we are keen to increase the number of distributors,” shared Arjun Kainya, the company’s director. He shared that previously the company primarily catered to dealers, and now it wants to focus on distributors too. “At present we have six distributors and by the financial year 2020-21 we have set for ourselves a target to take this count to 25.” Kainya explained that the idea is to have a distributor in every metro city and category A/B city. This, he said, will help the company expand its market presence and meet demand better.

“The distributors need not deal in all our product categories, they can decide the category they are interested in and we will support them with our full range,” he shared, adding that this will help streamline the business processes. “We are the pioneers of imported hardware in the country. We import quality hardware products from UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Taiwan and China and cater to the Indian demand.” For instance, the company represents Armstrong locks, a Taiwanese brand, in India. Besides importing, it also believes in sourcing quality products from the domestic market, said Kainya.

The company has recently renovated its 6,000 sft Mumbai showroom. “We deal with more than 18,000 products, and it was felt that a proper display was much required. Our renovated showroom is spacious, well-lit and well-designed to make shopping a delightful experience,” averred Kainya. The showroom has on display all the categories – bathroom accessories, wardrobes, modular furniture, appliances, etc. “We have made significant investment to upgrade the infrastructure and on the displays.” Kainya added that the company additionally acts as distributor for Bosch Appliances, Franke Sinks and Yale Locks.

“We have been getting good response from the builder community,” he remarked, adding that project, retail and distribution contribute equally to the company’s turnover. The company ventured into modular kitchens under Kainya brand in 2013, which he stated was a logical extension. “We are able to retail seven to ten kitchens a month in the price bracket of Rs 3 lakh and above.”

With a number of domestic and global brands competing in the Indian market, Kainya said what separates his brand from the rest is that he is able to offer quality products at competitive prices. “We also take pride in offering prompt delivery and the best customer service,” he remarked. “We keep on adding to our product list and 2018 will be no different,” said Kainya, and shared that he will soon launch a new range of cutlery units, raking solutions and door handles in new finishes.
