Building on Past Success

The trade event aims to bring together more than 450 exhibitors from over 30 countries under one roof, to showcase innovative and game-changing products

The 5th edition of DelhiWood will take place from 1-4 March at the India Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida. As a premier destination for woodworking professionals visiting biennially from across the globe, DelhiWood will continue providing a perfect platform for suppliers of woodworking solutions, machineries, materials and components to showcase their products, innovative technologies and production scenarios to key furniture/kitchen manufacturers, architects, interior designers and builders.

Leveraging the success of its previous editions, over 450 leading global brands from 30 countries are expected to participate, growing by 20% compared with the previous edition. The show floor is also marking a 25% increase and will span over 25,000sqm; it will likely be traversed by over 20,000 attendees from across Asian countries. This edition of the tradeshow will add a new focus, with the inclusion of Packaging Machines and Materials for furniture manufacturers and the woodworking industry; and Machines, Materials and Supplies for the upholstery, mattress and sofa manufacturing segments. As DelhiWood attracts a high percentageĀ  ofĀ  architects, builders, interior designersĀ  apartĀ  from furniture manufacturers, the non-machinery segment has a huge potential in the categories like fittings, structural parts, function & components, lighting systems, lights electrical fittings for furniture production & interior designing and semi-finished products, glass partitions, etc, for cabinetry and modular furniture manufacturing.

ā€œThe objective of unveiling these new product groups for DelhiWood is to offer a greater value to visitors who are either in such businesses or those who are looking for new business avenues. Hence, these complimenting product groups will open up new business opportunities for both the visiting and exhibiting community,ā€ says Siva Kumar, general manager at PDA Trade Fairs, the organiser of the show.
For the 2017 edition, the entire exhibition of 25,000sqm will be in one hall and will be demarcated as machinery and non-machinery segments. ā€œFollowing DelhiWood 2015, we wanted to improve the visitor footprint throughout the show, and hence have now made these changes. Besides, every aisle and corners will present a rich and varied panorama of country pavilions, enabling exhibitors to achieve even greater visibility in favour of their distinctive national images. Country pavilions include Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Taiwan and USA,ā€ adds Kumar.

As for the 2015 edition of DelhiWood, 393 exhibitors from 25 countries participated, of which 55% were Indian companies and 45% were from overseas. The national pavilions of Canada, China and Italy also increased their participation by 20%. There was an increase in exhibitors from the materials and supply side, with a lot of new entrants in the industry. DelhiWood 2015 welcomed 16,000 professionals during the four-day exhibition, which broke the earlier record and represented a 40% increase over the 2013 edition. The ā€˜Sourcing Forumā€™ organised by WoodNews was a first for the woodworking industry in India with more than 260 meetings organised between manufacturers and online retailers like eBay, FabFurnish, Flipkart, Pepperfry, SnapDeal and UrbanLadder. ā€œThe Sourcing Forum was a huge hit and definitely increased our appeal with audiences,ā€ said Kumar. A panel discussion on ā€˜Make in India:Ā  opportunities for furniture manufacturingā€™ addressed the opportunities and challenges that lie in the years to come.

The wood working industry in India is one of the fastest growing segments inthe countryā€™s economy. Much of this growth is fuelled by huge demand in the domestic market and access to modern machinery to meet this demand. The Indian furniture industry is considered the 14th largest in the world, driven largely by increasing income levels and influence of global lifestyle trends, which make it one of the most attractive investment opportunities in the now largely unorganised furniture market. ā€œThe 2017 show will provide an invaluable opportunity to view the latest global technologies and best practices and create new opportunities for our industry to collaborate,ā€ Kumar adds.

The three-in-one knowledge and technology sharing platform will take place with the support of Eumabois, and will have Sourcing Forum, Furniture Distributors Summit and Architects Seminar as concurrent events. ')}
