Lean Thinking Leads to Improved Bottom Lines

Deepak Gupta, director at SMRG, says that lean thinking enables enterprises to minimise errors and delays and thus improve bottom lines. “Businesses should adopt the lean concepts of manufacturing if they want to achieve enhanced operational efficiency and robust bottom-line and top lines,” he emphasises. He explains that lean thinking’s objective is to ‘do more with less’. “At least a 25% jump can be achieved in quality, productivity, delivery performance, safety and motivation levels within the first year of dedicated implementation of this methodology,” he shares. The government is helping small businesses adopt this concept. “The Ministry of MSME has been encouraging the adoption of lean manufacturing systems through the formation of clusters and subsidisation of consulting fees.” he says.
