Furniture & Fitting Skill Council (FFSC) has conducted industry meets in three major cities of India – Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai – under its ‘One Nation, One Industry’ campaign, where more than 100 industry representatives and other stakeholders participated. As FFSC scales up industry engagement, the woodworking and allied industries can expect to derive greater benefits from the skilling initiatives being taken by the government through respective trade councils.
The agenda of FFSC’s industry meetings is to create awareness about Skill India Mission, and Furniture & Fittings Skill Council, and invite industry representatives to participate in the ongoing Skill Conscious Employer Program. Participants in the industry meetings include furniture manufacturers, contractors, raw material suppliers, architects, interior designers, etc.
During the meets, the ‘One Nation, One Industry’ campaign is explained to the attendees. The campaign’s objectives are:
- Creation of ‘One Nation, One Industry’ directory
- Appointment of industry partners as Skill Ambassadors
- Strengthening the network of FFSC Regional Skill Chapters
- Fostering skill consciousness amongst employers & employees
- Setting up skill academies
- Speeding up fresh intake via the Recruit-Train-Deploy model of training
- Building aspiration through skill competitions
FFSC aims to further scale up activities that will enable industry and allied stakeholders to understand its vision and mission.
By appointing skill ambassadors, it is encouraging leaders to evangelise skill development in the woodworking sector in their respective circles.
FFSC is also underscoring the importance of the troika of training, apprenticeship, and jobs (TAJ) through its employment portal https://www.ffsctaj.in.
India Kitchen Congress is another important event where FFSC will be engaging with leaders of the woodworking and modular furniture industry.
