Jaquar Group Takes Over Euro Sanitaryware Plant for Rs 100 Cr

The Rs 2,753-crore bathroom solutions major Jaquar Group has taken over the manufacturing plant, including facilities and assets, of Kutch-based Euro Ceramics Ltd in a Rs 100 crore deal. The strategic deal takes Jaquar Group’s manufacturing infrastructure to over 248,000sqm, spread over five plants in the country and one plant in South Korea.

“Manufacturing has always formed the core of our operations, supporting the government’s Make in India vision,” Jaquar Group’s promoter and director Rajesh Mehra says. “The takeover of the Euro Ceramics plant will give us a leadership position, strengthening our proposition of a ‘complete bathroom solutions’ provider. This move is significant as it reiterates the Group’s vision of manufacturing world class products in India for the world. It will further help us achieve a turnover of Rs 3,500 crore by FY 2017-18.”

The Euro Ceramics plant at Bhachau in Kutch is spread over 17 acres, and is one of Asia’s most modern sanitaryware manufacturing facilities with ISO 9001:2008 accreditation and QMS system. It is equipped with hi-tech and cutting-edge production technology from SACMI (Italy), which is known worldwide for manufacturing machines for ceramics.

Mehra further says, “In line with the company’s mission to deliver unparalleled bathing products, we plan to invest Rs 75-80 crore within the next one year as part of modernisation and upgradation in process, technology and machining of the plant. This upgradation will take current plant production capacity from 1.2 million sanitaryware pieces to 1.8 million pieces in FY 2017-18.”

This, he stresses, will be in line with the Group’s philosophy of eco-friendly and pollution-free (zero wastage) manufacturing. The plant will be manufacturing a new range of designer sanitaryware products in partnership with globally renowned design firms like DanelonMeroni, London and Foley Design, Bengaluru. The trained workforce of over 400 currently employed at the plant has been seamlessly integrated into the Jaquar Group family.
