We are Water Foundation (WAWFI), the CSR wing of Roca Bathroom Products, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Plumbing Skills Council (IPSC) to train 1,600 plumbers across the country, including 700 women plumbers.
Operating under the aegis of National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC), the initiative aims at providing training to plumbing workforce pan-India with special focus on women. It will also help them understand the latest technologies and products launched in the bathroom industry.
As part of the agreement, We are Water Foundation and IPSC will work together to mobilise and provide free skill training for specific job roles as per the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF). On the basis of the training, the plumbers will be assessed and subsequently felicitated with āSkill Indiaā and IPSC Certification on successful completion of the programs.
On the occasion of the MoU signing, We Are Water Foundationās managing trustee K E Ranganathan said, āWe at Roca – WAWFI believe in supporting this wonderful initiative of IPSC, especially the empowering of women. There is a clear demand for training plumbing technicians in India with bathroom taking the center stage in homes and the advent of technology. Moreover, new age products have made it essential to train the technicians. We will continue to partner with IPSC to empower more people to lead a healthy dignified life.”
IPSC chairman R K Somany added, “IPSC is committed to the upliftment of plumbing technicians across India. So far, we have certified more than 1,00,000 technicians with the required plumbing skills. We are thankful to Roca – WAWFI for supporting us in this initiative.”
