Punjab is the focus market this year for Zoom Locks, the manufacturer of door locks and fittings. The Aligarh-based company, which has been in operation for the last 25 years, has over 800 dealers across India.
“Our dealer base is more concentrated in states such as Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh,” said Nitin Garg, managing director of the company. He stressed that while the company is in an enviable position down south with respect to retail presence, there is a need to focus on newer markets.
“Once the market stabilises, we are keen to increase our dealer base in non-traditional markets. This year we have chosen Punjab as our focus market. While we are not putting a number to the size of dealer network planned, it will be significant,” he shared in an exclusive conversation with Sourcing Hardware. The dealers, he said, will be selected based on their market standing and turnover. “For the selected dealers, there will be no minimum security and no minimum stock requirement,” he shared. The company on its part would help the dealers with advertising materials and technical support.
Garg also informed that a new door lock is in the development stage and would be launched in three months. “We are an OEM to a number of popular brands in the modular furniture industry, and are keen to increase our clientele this year. We supply door closers and cupboard locks to them,” averred Garg. The current turnover of the company is around Rs 5 crore and Garg is confident that market expansion, product portfolio expansion and being OEM to more established players are the key to Zoom’s future growth.
