Eco-window Maker Gaurav Sethi Starts a New Green Trip on His E-bike

‘I believe an e-bike is not just a fashion statement, it is a moral statement.’

By Mrinmoy Bhattacharjee

Ever wondered what e-bikes and window systems have in common? For one, both reduce damage to the environment by minimising energy consumption while simultaneously bolstering the health of the user. And second, they offer a means to do good to those who care enough for the environment and are willing to bet top dollar on an idea that can change the world. Windowman Gaurav Sethi (chest #10081) took this road twice within a decade, first when he set up his uPVC window fabrication business Urban Dorz, and again when he turned distributor for electric-powered cycles. And he says he did it because he was just ‘being human’.

ā€œWhen we received an offer to be a distributor of Being Human electric bikes, we realised that e-bikes too serve the mission of saving the environment and helping people live a healthy life. After all, every time a person uses his electric bike he will be doing some physical exercise and simultaneously saving on the world from the side-effects of hydrocarbon fuels. E-bikes are fitted with an electric motor thatā€™s powered by a rechargeable li-ion battery and can achieve speeds of 25 km per hour. This adds a fun factor ā€“ speed and thrill ā€“ to cycling. Motivated by this thought we took the challenge and set up Urban eBykes, a distribution network for Being Humanā€™s e-bikes in north India.

Itā€™s good to see that there are people around us who are conscious of the environment, who want to do their bit to decongest the roads, and want to exercise despite being pressed for time due to work. Such people are keen to possess an e-bike. They want to exercise and even cycle to work, since it can run nearly 40 km on a full electric charge. I believe an e-bike is not just a fashion statement, it is a moral statement.ā€Ā
