The ₹149 crore aluminium extrusion and surface-finishing investment will support Fenesta’s windows and façade businesses while opening a new B2B revenue vertical.
Fenesta, the windows and doors business of DCM Shriram Ltd, has commissioned its aluminium extrusion plant at Kota, Rajasthan, marking its entry into the aluminium extrusion business and a significant backward integration of its growing aluminium windows and façade operations. The Fenesta aluminium extrusion plant will also cater to OEMs and other users, creating a new B2B business vertical for the company.
The plant forms part of a ₹149 crore investment approved by DCM Shriram for aluminium extrusion and associated surface-finishing facilities at Kota. The investment was announced in October 2024 with a dual objective: strengthening Fenesta’s aluminium windows, doors
and façade businesses, and establishing aluminium extrusion and surface finishing as new businesses.
The new facility will produce aluminium profiles for Fenesta’s own requirements, reducing its dependence on external suppliers for a critical input. Bringing extrusion in-house is expected to give the company greater control over supply, improve responsiveness and enable faster development of new aluminium systems.
Importantly, the facility is not intended to operate only as a captive manufacturing unit. Fenesta said it will also supply aluminium extrusions to OEMs and other users, effectively creating a new B2B business vertical alongside its established windows, doors and façade operations.
Fenesta Aluminium Extrusion Plant Supports Backward Integration
Fenesta already has manufacturing capabilities spanning uPVC extrusion, window fabrication and façades. The addition of aluminium extrusion brings another important stage of the value chain under its direct control.
For the company, this assumes significance as aluminium becomes an increasingly important part of its product portfolio. In-house extrusion can shorten the development cycle for new profiles and systems, while allowing manufacturing requirements to be more closely aligned with product development.

“Aluminium is an important and fast-evolving segment for us, with significant potential across windows, façades and other applications,” said Saket Jain, Business Head, Fenesta.
He said the new plant would give Fenesta “greater control over a critical part of the value chain” while strengthening its ability to innovate, scale and respond more efficiently to market requirements.
“With this integrated capability, we are well positioned to further accelerate our growth in aluminium and build new opportunities beyond our existing businesses,” Jain added.
New B2B Opportunity Beyond Fenesta
The decision to address external customers makes the Fenesta aluminium extrusion plant strategically different from a conventional captive capacity expansion.
By supplying OEMs and other users, Fenesta will participate directly in the wider aluminium extrusion market. This also creates an opportunity for the company to leverage the extrusion capabilities being built for its own architectural systems across a broader customer base.
The commissioning comes as Fenesta continues to expand beyond its traditional strength in uPVC windows and doors. Its aluminium portfolio now encompasses windows and façade applications, making control over profile manufacturing increasingly relevant to its growth
strategy.
The development also comes as other established uPVC system brands are strengthening their aluminium portfolios in India, with Koemmerling recently launching its Allure S46 aluminium minimal sliding system.
Fenesta has a network of more than 400 dealers across India and also operates in international markets including Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Ghana and Kenya.
The Fenesta aluminium extrusion plant therefore represents more than an addition to the company’s manufacturing footprint. It strengthens Fenesta’s control over the aluminium value chain while simultaneously taking it upstream into a new B2B materials business.
