Furniture & Fittings Skill Council, Bracecorp Sign MoU

The Furniture & Fittings Skill Council (FFSC) has appointed Sourcing Hardware as its Media Partner. Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed recently between FFSC and Bracecorp Technologies, which is the publisher of Sourcing Hardware, the skill development initiatives of FFSC will be reported in the magazine’s print and digital channels.

The MoU was signed by Gurpal Singh, CEO of FFSC, and Deepak Gupta, MD of Bracecorp Technologies and managing editor of Sourcing Hardware. The agreement will have an initial term of three years.

“There is a shortage of skilled and certified manpower in our industry and there is a need to reach out to the fraternity and make them aware of the skill development activities of FFSC,” said Singh. He added that the council has been offering carpenter and woodworking training with a focus on the use of power tools from day one. It is also connecting the trained workforce with job providers. “We will soon start a special training programme for people interested to explore career options in the Middle East, which is a major market for Indian artisans.” He added that the programme is expected to start by the end of the year and would be conducted at Hettich Poddar Woodworking Institute in Faridabad. The government, said Singh, has recently come up with a list of aspirational districts in the country and FFSC will soon conduct rojgar melas in those districts.

“Sourcing Hardware will be extending to FFSC the vast reach of its print and digital platforms, so that the council’s activities and initiatives are reported across the building products industry. In this way the industry will be able to more effectively employ people with the right skills. This will also enable FFSC to fine-tune its efforts with the evolving requirements of the furniture and hardware industries,” remarked Gupta. “As a business media organisation, this is, our own little way the contribution towards making Skill India Mission a success,” he said.
To begin with FFSC will share its newsletter with Sourcing Hardware, and its content will be published in the print magazine as also on digital platforms depending upon suitability and relevance of the content. This will help the sector skill council reach out to industry players who are keen to invest, as well as entrepreneurs who see business opportunity, in skilling and facilitate their participation in Skill India Mission.
