COVID19 Vs IPSC: Plumbing Skills Council Forms Task Force, Lists 900 Certified Plumbers to Work during Lockdown

To ensure that the plumbers working post lockdown remain safe and avoid the further spread of COVID-19, Indian Plumbing Skills Council (IPSC) has formed a special technical task force under the Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey.

The skill development council, under the guidance of the task force, has drafted the Guidelines for plumbing workforce to understand and maintain the health and safety norms post COVID-19 pandemic. Its Guidelines has been released nationally in 10 regional languages for ease of understanding by the plumbers. The task force comprises MK Gupta, IPSC vice-chairman Vinay Gupta, Milind Shete, Sandip K Roychoudhury, Chintan Daiya, among other plumbing fraternity veterans.

Also, IPSC issued a list of 900 certified plumbers ready to work during the lockdown. Vinay Gupta elaborates: ā€œDuring the lockdown, there have been two big issues that are clearly visible. Firstly, there has been a hit to employment or working opportunities for the plumbing workforce. Secondly, in-case there is a plumbing issue at someoneā€™s home, finding a plumber is impossible. IPSC decided to address the same when it started collating a database of plumbers that were willing to work during this time. Over 900 plumbers pan-India volunteered to work in their respective districts for plumbing-related issues faced by the citizens. With the recent directive by the Ministry of Housing Affairs on April 15 wherein self-employed workforce could start work, it became clear that it was essential for this database to be released as means of convenience to the citizens.ā€
