Nitin Nagpal and Saurabh Jain have come together and launched a new brand, Impegno, to disrupt the modular furniture industry. The duo is convinced that the launch of the new brand marks a new phase in the kitchen and wardrobe space. āImpegno is an Italian word, which means commitment, and we stand for that,ā informed Nagpal (nitin@impegno.in), director and co-founder, Impegno Homes LLP. Impegno will provide end to end solutions for customers, he said, adding that, āthe name reflects our approach to the business.ā
The brand opened its first kitchen and wardrobe studio recently, in June, in Delhiās Kirti Nagar market. The studio spread over 1,250 sft displaying a full range of modular kitchen and wardrobes, was inaugurated by Gavish Sahni, principal architect, Studio Srijan. What was notable was that the appliances were from Hafele and the hardware was invariably from Blum. The two co-founders, Jain and Nagpal, explained that it is based on the product superiority and service support that they have opted for the brand.
Jain, the other co-founder, of Impegno and director, DĆ©cor Group ā manufacturers and suppliers of particle board in various finishes to kitchen manufacturers across India ā said that getting into the retail aspect of the kitchen business was but a logical extension. Between the two partners they have an experience of close to two decades in design, manufacturing, sales and business in the modular furniture industry.
āWe are very strong on the B2B side of kitchens business. For us Impegno is a brand that connects directly to the end customer and takes forward our philosophy of providing high-quality solutions at value-for-money proposition,ā said Jain. Both Jain and Nagpal, made it amply clear that as far as DĆ©cora Group is concerned, it will be a preferred vendor but not the only vendor. āWe have many other vendors on our list and DĆ©cora is one of them,ā said Nagpal.
Nagpal shared that it took the duo almost six months, and an investment of close to Rs 70 lakh, to come up with the first showroom. āBy the end of this year we will come up with yet another showroom in Delhi-NCR,ā he informed. Ā āOur first focus is retail; however, if we get good value projects we will not shy away from it,ā he said. To begin with the brand is focused on manufacturing and retailing quality products. āOur manufacturing capability and service delivery have been our USPs,ā said Jain, adding that now with the entry into retailing the aim is to raise the bar.
Impegno offers kitchens in the range of Rs 3 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. āAs for delivery of kitchen is concerned we are in a position to deliver the same with a month or two,ā averred Nagpal. He stressed that this is the usual time taken to design, manufacture and deliver a customised kitchen. ')}
