Macwel to Add Hardware, Start Fifth Unit

Rajkot-based Macwel Metals will be launching a new range of hardware fittings for modular kitchens this year. The company already manufactures stainless steel products and accessories including baskets, pull outs, corners, wardrobe systems, etc under the IN ‘N’ OUT brand. “This year we are going to launch hardware for modular kitchens including rolling shutters, tandem box, aluminium profiles, handles, etc,” shared managing director Kapil Patel.

According to Patel, the company has manufacturing facilities spread over 22,000 sft at GIDC Metoda in Rajkot. “At present we have four units; two are being used to manufacture kitchen baskets, the third for uPVC doors and windows, and the fourth for corrugated boxes. We are soon going to start operations for the fifth unit and that will be used for SS304 pipes,” he shared, adding that total investment for the fifth unit would be in the range of Rs 4-5 crore. On the basket front, Patel informed that the company produces 10,000 to 12,000 units a month.

Macwel has 80 dealers and the company is aggressively working on its retail strategy. “We want to increase our retail footprint and feel that it is important to focus on the south Indian market; for us it is an untapped region,” Patel indicated, adding that plansare still in the initial stage and that they are exploring the region. “To begin with, we will enter the markets of Bengaluru and Hyderabad with our modular kitchen accessories, and gradually increase our offerings,” he said. The company has set up a showroom at Rajkot to display its growing product range.

“Financially we are strong and have been registering good growth over the last couple of years,” Patel said, adding that the turnover target for 2020 is Rs 20 crore. ')}
