SCHELL Self Closing Technology

Self closing technology has been successfully employed in Schell products installed in India and across the world. The technology essentially uses water pressure available in the plumbing system, subject to a required/stated/recommended minimum pressure to close the valve. The opening of the valve is done either manually or electronically. The process incorporates a self-cleaning mechanism by means of a self cleaning jet needle ā€“ a unique aspect in toilet fixtures.

Application
Applied to taps and WC and urinal flush systems, and showers, this is a remarkable process whereby through a pressure balancing process the closure of the valve is activated and ensured. Further, it is possible to regulate the closure time of the valve, hence allowing water outflows to be regulated as per requirements. This allows for providing appropriate quantities of water through fixtures, and hence, in the broader context ā€“ water conservation.

Applied to taps and mixers ā€“ another first in the industry ā€“ these regulate water outflows from 600 ml upwards per use. The WC flush systems regulate water outflows from 4.5 litres per flush. Similarly the showers limit flow rates to 10 lpm between 5 secs. to 30 secs. This ensures a significant prevention of water wastage.

Benefits

  • The products and the technology therein prescribe cartridge as the only item to service, and consequently minimalisation of components.
  • Service time and costs are less.
  • The self cleaning mechanism is a huge benefit towards lengthening of service schedules and consequently reliability of operations.
  • Water savings through limitation of outflow volumes is of course an integral feature.
